The birth of Jesus

The birth of Jesus

Bible reference:

Luke 2:6-7

“While they were there, the time came for her to deliver her child.  And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in bands of cloth, and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn.”

Reflection:

Jesus was born in difficult circumstances.  Mary and Joseph had had to travel to the city of David, (Bethlehem) to register and they were still away from home when Jesus was born.  The city was very crowded because many other people also had had to travel there to register.  There was nowhere to stay.   Everywhere was full.  But an innkeeper found a place for Mary and Joseph to stay.  It was in a cattle shed and that is where Jesus was born.

Prayer:

Jesus, may we never look down on, or judge, people who live in humble circumstances and may we, like the innkeeper, always try to help people in need.  Amen.
